Quran 7:164 from Surah Al-A'raaf on Divine Marvels.
وَإِذۡ قَالَتۡ أُمَّةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوۡمًا ٱللَّهُ مُهۡلِكُهُمۡ أَوۡ مُعَذِّبُهُمۡ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدٗاۖ قَالُواْ مَعۡذِرَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ وَلَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَّقُونَ
English translation: And when said a community among them Why (do) you preach a people (whom) Allah (is going to) destroy them or punish them (with) a punishment severe They said To be absolved before your Lord and that they may become righteous
Transliteration: wa-idh qalat ummatun min'hum lima ta'izuna qawman al-lahu muh'likuhum aw mu'adhibuhum adhaban shadidan qalu ma'dhiratan ila rabbikum wala'allahum yattaquna
