Quran 2:247 from Surah Al-Baqara on Divine Marvels.
وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ نَبِيُّهُمۡ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ بَعَثَ لَكُمۡ طَالُوتَ مَلِكٗاۚ قَالُوٓاْ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ عَلَيۡنَا وَنَحۡنُ أَحَقُّ بِٱلۡمُلۡكِ مِنۡهُ وَلَمۡ يُؤۡتَ سَعَةٗ مِّنَ ٱلۡمَالِۚ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصۡطَفَىٰهُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَزَادَهُۥ بَسۡطَةٗ فِي ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَٱلۡجِسۡمِۖ وَٱللَّهُ يُؤۡتِي مُلۡكَهُۥ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٞ
English translation: And said to them their Prophet Indeed Allah (has) surely raised for you Talut (as) a king They said How can be for him the kingship over us while we (are) more entitled to kingship than him and not he has been given abundance of [the] wealth He said Indeed Allah has chosen him over you and increased him abundantly in [the] knowledge and [the] physique And Allah gives His kingdom (to) whom He wills And Allah (is) All-Encompassing All-Knowing
Transliteration: waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna al-laha qad ba'atha lakum taluta malikan qalu anna yakunu lahu al-mul'ku alayna wanahnu ahaqqu bil-mul'ki min'hu walam yu'ta sa'atan mina al-mali qala inna al-laha is'tafahu alaykum wazadahu bastatan fi al-'il'mi wal-jis'mi wal-lahu yu'ti mul'kahu man yashau wal-lahu wasi'un alimun
